Few but good, one could say as regards the territory of Riva, the gem in the north of Garda that reserves a unique landscape, at the foot of steep cliffs. This scenery, so suggestive, surrounds the village and also includes its coasts, which are more reserved and close to the mountains, since the area is different from the flat southern Garda area.
Walking along the lakeside of Riva del Garda, you can stop in the more accessible ones, and enjoy the spectacle of the coast in complete tranquility.
Above all, it is an excellent idea to live on the coast in the morning, when the climate is less windy and the wind of Ora del Garda is not yet blowing. When asked which are the best beaches in Riva del Garda, therefore, the answer is easy: the 3 shores between the center and the neighboring coasts. Let’s see what they are…

Sabbioni Beach
It represents one of the largest and best equipped beaches in Garda Trentino, with free access to the gravel and green area which is always very popular during the summer; especially for children, as it includes a play area for children.
The Sabbioni beach is located right in Riva del Garda; it also has a park where you can find the shade of the trees on hot days and, perhaps, to organize a picnic. For those who love comfort, this coast is equipped with bars, kiosks, restaurants, and toilets that include showers. Crystal clear water certainly attracts for diving, but it is good to remember that in this area the lake is deep.
It is possible to rent sunbeds and deck chairs but also canoes to enter the water and do some sport. For those who like to risk less, on the Sabbioni beach there is a floating platform with an indoor swimming pool, and on the coast there are trampolines, sandboxes, beach volleyball and basketball courts.
A cycle path runs around the beach, perfect for those who want to travel along the lakefront and make stops on the beach, enjoying the view!
Pini Beach
For the youngest and most dynamic, this is the perfect coast, where you can often enjoy both the day with the beach life and in the evening.
In Riva del Garda the Spiaggia dei Pini is known as Purfina; it is very popular thanks to the large kiosk bar, surrounded by the greenery of the park, always active with drinks, aperitifs and express dishes, music: in short, a nice movement on the Trentino coast. It is a beach also known to the large group of people who love windsurfing, who mostly stay in the Bavaria campsite, where an area is dedicated to surfing – this area of the lake is one of the most popular in Europe for the daily winds of Garda, which especially facilitate kitesurfing.
During the summer there are various sports initiatives on the beach, including soccer tournaments, beach volleyball, but also events and fun evenings.
In addition to the green part, the beach is made of stones and gravel and is always well maintained, equipped with showers, deckchair and sun lounger rental services, playground, slide and floating platform with indoor swimming pool, offshore.
Miralago Beach
Inserted in the green and in the mountains, this beach is a relaxing place, much coveted by those who want an edenic landscape. It is not very big, but pleasant; it consists of a pebble beach, and immersed in a naturalistic context much loved by those who want to rest, dive into the lake, read, have a chat in peace. We often meet parents with strollers, parked runners, or those who want to take a regenerating walk on the lakeside.
This one of Miralago is considered one of the best beaches in Riva del Garda within the territory of the village itself, by those who want a scenery to meditate, and a comfortable atmosphere.
For those who love fishing, however, it is good to remember that in the lake it is regulated only at certain times, and in several areas it is forbidden to fish.
Activities to do on the beaches of Riva del Garda
The first thing that comes spontaneously for the more dynamic, is to practice the classic water sports, from canoeing to windsurfing, or those on land in the equipped beaches.
We talked about beach volleyball, soccer or basketball courts. But we know that many diving lovers come to Riva del Garda, who appreciate the areas of the Garda Trentino area. They know these depths above all for their depth (the lake reaches 350 meters), and often dive up to the statue that appears in the seabed: a Silent Christ of about 3 meters, which is located in Porto San Nicolò in an area marked by a big red buoy.
Various structures on the lake also reserve the possibility of taking boat trips or on a catamaran, to see Lake Garda from the water itself and admire the landscape of Riva; very similar to a fjord, surrounded by mountains, from the sea it is even more spectacular. Those who use the sailboat know that it benefits from the winds, which blow daily on the lake in different directions: the Peler in the morning and the Ora in the afternoon. In short, a perfect place for those who love boating!
Yet, those who stop at the best beaches in Riva del Garda may also be less sporty and more fond of walks along the lakefront, using the beaches as stops during the day.
Those who want to walk the shores of Lake Garda have the opportunity to walk from the center of Riva to Forte San Nicolò at the foot of Monte Brione, in a walk that takes about half an hour. For the more experienced, you can reach Torbole via the lakefront, dotted with benches and shady areas to rest. From here you can think of making an excursion to Monte Brione, to get to the many fortifications in the area dating back to the First World War.
A path that can also be traveled by bicycle, here where there are many cycle paths and mountain bike paths – just to deviate from the beaches to the mountains!
