Very popular among those who practice Kitesurf, Windsurf, and sailing, this beach is appreciated above all for its excellent reserved location, mild climate, and winds.
All year round, the Peler and Ora winds blow, which allow sailors never to be in difficulty and to always follow new routes. The Campione free beach is also recommended for those who want to approach this sport: precisely in this location, in fact, you can find the Univela, the University of Sailing for the athletic preparation of sailing lovers. It offers courses and equipment, comfortable rooms for accommodation, a gym to stay in shape, a restaurant, and a storage room for students’ and practitioners’ sports equipment.
The free beach is large, one of the most scenic beaches on the entire Garda Lake. It has a terrain made of gravel stones alternating with grass, and since it is in Campione, it can be easily reached on foot. It has restrooms and showers, and is served by a bar and restaurant for refreshment breaks.
For those arriving by car, there is a paid parking nearby, especially useful for those who practice diving and windsurfing to transport their equipment.

Moreover, for those who want to improve the sailing boat’s athletic performance, Campione del Garda represents an important place for organizing international regattas and aquatic sports events. It is here that the Surfers’ Festival takes place, between amateur competitions and gastronomy.
There are many possibilities for sailing boat excursions, also reaching beaches and hidden places on the Garda, not far from Campione.
Regarding the winds on the beaches of Campione, as we mentioned, they are the Ora and Peler winds, the most famous on Lake Garda, exploited by surfers to sail at their best.
They are winds that arise to compensate for differences in temperature and usually alternate.
The system is this: during the day, the air in the Alpine valleys warms up more than that on the lake and generates pressure to the north of the lake, so the Ora starts blowing from the south – usually, this wind blows from noon until sunset.
The Peler is the opposite wind that blows from the north, usually blowing from late evening until morning and reaching maximum speed at dawn.
The higher the difference in pressure between the mountain and lake areas, the stronger the wind blows on Garda Lake: nature fascinates us with these phenomena, and especially in the location of Campione, it has been pushing its inhabitants for centuries, and now tourists, to sail with its favor!
Diving in Campione del Garda
These beaches in Campione are also suitable for starting towards underwater diving in the lake since in this locality, you can easily reach one of the deepest points of Garda, a 364-meter vertical wall!
In this area there is a natural sculpture called the Pinnacolo, a very beloved stone peak by the scuba divers. Besides diving, there are excellent opportunities to practice Canyoning in Campione, in the San Michele gorge that is a retrostream.
Recently, it has been necessary to dredge the riverbed to re-arrange some parts of the Campione beaches that had been damaged by its action – from the shoreline to the kite areas.
The largest beach in Campione is equipped for those who want to freely take a dip but is mainly frequented by water sports enthusiasts, and even filmmakers! Indeed, it has been a location used as a natural set for some advertisements and for the film The International and the film Quantum of Solace, an episode of the 007 agent series.
