Dream’s Island (or Isola del Sogno), where relaxation and peace come true

After the Val di Sogno peninsula on the eastern shore of Lake Garda, a small wild island appears that can be reached on foot. It hides a wreck from the 1980s!

Home Islands Dream's Island (or Isola del Sogno), where relaxation and peace come true

Among the islets that emerge on the Venetian shore of Lake Garda, there is this island, called Isola del Sogno or Isola dei Sogni (Dream’s Island . Covered with dense vegetation, it is a low islet located near Malcesine and the other two small islands, Trimelone and Olivo.

Its name derives from the Val di Sogno, which opens right near this island, in Assenza di Brenzone in the Bay of Val di Sogno. This bay has a pebble beach, and is equipped with bars, services and restaurants, as well as a car park.

A wild and romantic little island

A dream, indeed, located between Malcesine and Assenza, offering a picturesque view of the north-eastern part of Lake Garda.

At the end of this peninsula, there is a rocky spur, with some small paths through the vegetation and the trunks. Here you can also find an old stone bench.

How to reach Isola del Sogno

It is known that when the lake lowers its water level, the Isola di Sogno becomes reachable on foot.

The lakebed allows anyone to reach the “Dream,” as it is only 20 meters from the coast; the pebbles are slightly slippery but walkable. Otherwise, swimming is a pleasant option, especially with fins!

If you want to reach the island by car and then park on the beach, you must take the Gardesana road and, just before arriving in Malcesine, you can reach the Bay of Val di Sogno, where you find clear and calm waters.

For those who want to arrive by boat or hydrofoil, there is a connection between all the towns overlooking the lake. Private motor navigation is only prohibited in the waters of the Trentino part, while it is allowed in the Veronese part.

An island for scuba divers on Lake Garda: Underwater Dream

The Isola del Sogno is much loved by scuba divers, as by diving into its depths, about 32 meters below the water, you can encounter a boatwreck sunk in 1987 that has now become a convenient home for the fauna and flora of the lake.

This iron cabin wreck, called Delsy, is about 16 meters long and can be spotted and reached both from the shore and from the waters of the island. In the first case, you follow the chain to which it is anchored, in the second case, you follow the rope that falls near the bow of the hull, which is about 50 meters from the shore.

It settled in a sailing position (it was a motorboat), and divers know (or should know) that it is better not to lift the mud from the seabed in which the wreck has dug a furrow. In this area, there is a small current typical of this inlet, the Bay of Val di Sogno.

In addition to diving, the Bay Val Di Sogno is worth a visit for its splendid scenery, and from the Isola del Sogno, you can enjoy a unique panorama of Lake Garda. Furthermore, returning to the free beach, you can relax and enjoy the sun or the sunset, take walks, and let your dog run free – it is a beach much appreciated by those who have a four-legged friend!
