When is Malcesine – Monte Baldo Cable Car Open

Usually, the cable car is accessible for about 10 months a year from the end of March to November, every day. It resumes from the Christmas period until the beginning of March.

Being one of the most modern cable car systems in the world, it has to perform proper maintenance on the rotating cabins before Easter and at the end of the summer season in November.

How to Get to the Cable Car from Garda

The starting point is the valley station in Malcesine, at Via Navene Vecchia 12. To get there, it is possible to reach the cable car station by car via the A22 motorway.

Coming from Verona, the exit is Affi, then follow the signs for Garda and then Malcesine.

Coming from Trento, the A22 exit is Rovereto Sud, proceed to Torbole and then to Malcesine. The Malcesine station has a paid parking lot with 170 parking spaces.

By public transport, it is possible to take local buses to reach Malcesine:

  • Garda – Malcesine – Riva Del Garda | Line APTV 484
  • Verona – Lazise – Garda |  Line APTV 185
  • Peschiera – Garda – Malcesine | Line APTV 483 

It is also possible to reach the cable car by boat on the Desenzano – Peschiera – Riva del Garda line.

Stations and Capacity of the Cable Car System

There are 3 stations that make up the Malcesine-Monte Baldo Cable Car:

  • Valley station in Malcesineat Via Navene Vecchia 12.
  • Intermediate station in San Michele – at about 580 meters above sea level.
  • Station on Monte Baldo, in Tratto Spino – 1780 meters above sea level.

Regarding capacity, the cabin that goes from Malcesine to San Michele carries 45 people, while the rotating cabin from San Michele to Monte Baldo carries up to 80 people.

Monte Baldo Cable Car Schedule

The rides to go up the mountain are many and a cabin departs every 30 minutes. Here are the cable car schedules for those going up:

  • from the Malcesine station at 8:00 am until 4:00 pm
  • from the San Michele station, from 8:15 am until 4:15 pm.

For those who need to go down, the schedules are:

  • from the Monte Baldo station from 8:15 am to 4:45 pm
  • from San Michele, it departs from 8:00 am and continues until 5:00 pm.

How Much Does the Malcesine-Monte Baldo Cable Car Cost?

Rates vary depending on the season, days, and routes. During holidays and high season, the prices are:

  • the Malcesine – San Michele section costs € 6.00 – round trip € 10.00
  • the San Michele – Monte Baldo section including skipass costs € 15.00 – round trip € 22.00
  • the Malcesine – Monte Baldo section including skipass costs € 15.00 and one-way / round trip € 22.00. For this section, you can purchase a Conventional Card for € 19.00.
